Taipei Story by Rebecca F. Kuang

Taipei Story follows Lily Chen, a Yale university student who travels to Taiwan for a grueling, 10-week summer Mandarin immersion program hoping to reconnect with her heritage. Her expectations of a smooth diaspora homecoming are shattered by intense culture shock and messy student social dynamics. The narrative shifts dramatically when her grandfather passes away in mainland China, leaving her stranded in Taipei due to visa issues and forcing her to confront profound grief, generational secrets, and the realities of a fractured identity.
