Kingfisher Book by Rozie Kelly

Kingfisher follows an unnamed 35-year-old creative writing professor who upends his stable life and relationship with his partner to pursue an intense, volatile infatuation with a famous older female poet. When the poet falls terminally ill, he becomes her caregiver while simultaneously trying to "possess" her identity by secretly writing her life story as his own literary material. As his obsession deepens alongside the grief of his mother's death, his reality spirals into a dark, psychological exploration of identity, control, and authorial ethics.
